Kazakhstan is a fast-expanding trade hub connecting China to Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and beyond, and represents a major area of potential growth for food processors. To showcase how JBT is already supporting processors in the country, JBT Alco and TIPPER TIE highlighted a complete convenience line, as well as individual machines including TIPPER TIE Automatic Double Clippers, at the recent FoodExpo Kazakhstan, which took place from November 12-14.
So why is Kazakhstan of such importance when it comes Central Asia trade? Eugen Rott, Sales Manager for JBT Alco, explains: “In recent years, Kazakhstan has been evolving into a major trade hub in Central Asia. On one side, it connects to China, and on the other, to Central Asian states like Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and others, with a combined population of around 100 million.
“The average age in Kazakhstan is about 30. Young people predominantly live in cities and are eager to explore new products.”
With such a dynamic market, it is probably unsurprising that the annual growth rate of the food trade in Kazakhstan is now around 10%, meaning there is plenty of potential for ambitious processors and suppliers to get involved.
Leaning into its years of expertise as a solutions provider to the global food industry, JBT utilized its presence at FoodExpo to highlight a complete convenience line, alongside individual equipment, including freezers.
“We received a lot of interest in Alco equipment from customers interested in convenience food production. Our machines offer solutions which are new to the market,” continues Rott. “Most of the visitors at our booth were from Kazakhstan, but also from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.”
